The Sony PS3 has a option to allow Linux to be installed. Getting this product will take the hassle out of it and they offer a variety of payment options. There are 2 that I can find, so have a good read and decide which one to go for.
Sky Player on the 360 - Update
Sky and/or Microsoft seemed to have fixed all the problems with the Sky player and it works perfectly.
Can't beleive how much content is actually on it, loads of films to choose from. If they could build this into a Sky box that would be excellent.
Be aware that only 1 360 can be registered at any one time. Bit of a problem for us as we have 3!

Which console for online gaming ?
There are three main contenders you should be looking at Sony PlayStation 3, Microsoft Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii.
Nintendo Wii and Sony PlayStation 3 offers wireless as an option out of the box, if you want to make the Microsoft Xbox 360 wireless you have to buy an extra component. If you don't want to use wireless or don't have wireless at home then Ethernet is the way to go. You set the console up pretty much like any network device, you can use DHCP or manually enter IP, DNS etc...
