Summary: Brilliant
Ive always been a big fan of the dynasty warriors games and once again i find this new instalment excellent, however if you found the others to be repetitive then you should expect the same from this game. I however love the whole, going around maps slicing up ALLOT of enemies. This one also has up to 4 player online co-op which is a feature that i always felt was needed. You dont just fight soldiers in this game, there is a range of enemies from wolves to mystical creatures e.g. Dragon of shu. I know i write a terrible review but if your a fan of the DW franchise then this game is a must buy, however if you never liked them then this game isn't for you.

Summary: Like it.
I really like this game, espically online. It is rather hard to go up levels at the begining though. It's quite like shayia in a sense of graphics, which are very good. However the game is repatitive, at the begining it is also rather addictive. It's very well set up though and planned out. Well worth it.

Summary: Fun, but for how long?
I've had DW:SF for long enough to now give my honest opinion. If you've ever played a Dynasty Warrior game you'll know what to expect.

Graphics
The graphics, as usual, take a bit of a backseat in this game. Not to the point that it looks last-gen, but certainly to the point that a graphics-whore would moan for months. They're suitable for the amount of hacking and slashing you'll be doing.

Sound
The music, again, is traditional DW. A mixture of 'authentic' period music with fast based battle music. It's fit for purpose but eventually you'll probably end up muting the music and playing your own after visiting the town for the 50th time due to its repetative nature.

Gameplay
X for light attack, Y for charge attack. C for Rage, A for jump. There's no depth to this game at all. You move from area to area KOing 5 or so different types of enemy and a few types of weaponary. The main difference to this game from its predeccesors is that the levels aren't wide, open plan spaces. They're small pre-defined areas connected by 'gates' and instead of the enemy checkpoints they infinately respawn.

Officers also have access to the 'Rage' ability which will not only refill their health bar but also make them fairly stiff competition to even the most seasoned DW player.

Fun factor
Despite the games short-fallings it still has quite a lot of fun. Sure, you could get the same amount of fun from one of the Warriors Orochi titles, if not more, but this game introduces some things that make it at least a little more creative. For me at least, creative means fun.

A new introduction for this game is the Rage mode. It's basically a pre-musuo mode. You enter it and you'll gain attack power, defence and even extra agility, once the bar is near its end whack the musuo button to unleash a storm of pain. Not only that, but while in rage mode your character will change form and look like a demon... of sorts.

They have also introduced Chi and Orbs. These are equipped to your weapon (Orbs) and your person (Chi) allowing you to boost nearly every aspect of your character. You're limited in the number you can equip (one per limb and either one or two each weapon depending on style) but they can add some great features.

Summary
As long as you aren't expecting a ground breaking game. DW:SF will give you a fair bit of fun. The farming for resources may drive you crazy long before you complete it but it has a new level of customisation. Not only that, but at least Koei are trying something new with the DW series.
